The University of Moratuwa requires all applicants to selected design and architecture programmes to sit a university-specific aptitude test before being considered for admission. The test evaluates creative thinking, spatial reasoning, freehand drawing ability, and visual awareness — skills that are critical for success in these fields.
Applicants must first obtain qualifying results at the G.C.E. A/L examination (relevant stream) and then apply via the UOM press notice. The aptitude test is held separately, and only candidates who pass the test are ranked for admission based on Z-scores and district quota.

Architecture (023G) — Course code 023G. The Aptitude Test for Admission to the Bachelor of Architecture Degree in the Department of Architecture is designed to assess a candidate's potential and readiness for architectural studies.
