The University of Kelaniya conducts aptitude and practical tests for programmes in Film & Television Studies, Financial Engineering, BBM Financial Engineering, and Sports Science. These tests are required in addition to qualifying A/L results.
Applicants must apply via the UOK press notice. Each programme has its own test structure — Film & TV candidates are tested on media literacy, while Finance and BBM candidates are assessed on mathematical and analytical skills. Sports Science involves a physical practical component.

Film & Television Studies — Candidates are assessed on general media knowledge, visual storytelling, and critical analysis of film and television content. Questions may include short-answer responses about Sri Lankan and international cinema, and analysis of a given scene or script excerpt.
BSc Financial Engineering (110D) — The aptitude test covers mathematical aptitude, logical reasoning, and basic financial concepts. Strong skills in calculus, statistics, and quantitative problem-solving are important. Applicants from the Mathematics/Physical Science stream are typically eligible.
BBM Financial Engineering — This test evaluates business awareness, numerical ability, and analytical thinking. It includes multiple-choice questions on financial literacy and short problem-solving exercises. Commerce/Physical Science A/L stream applicants are eligible.
Sports Science — A practical sports test combined with a written component assessing knowledge of human physiology, sports nutrition, and exercise science principles. Candidates with active sports backgrounds will find the practical component familiar.
